This 2018-2019 school year, five new interns have arrived at Bethesda Green as part of our Leadership Academy program! They all attend local Bethesda High School, Walt Whitman. We are very excited to be working with them.
Introducing: Lucas Bravo, Bethesda Green’s Leadership Academy Intern
Lucas Bravo is a senior and is interested in pursuing environmental/natural sciences in college.
During his free time, he likes to play water polo, and soccer. In addition, Lucas competes in downhill skiing, and he is an avid Fortnite player. However, when he does take a break, he enjoys looking at the world around him. Lucas shares, “The sheer complexity of the world around us can be truly astonishing, and it is truly a gift we should cherish and protect. I think that real change starts one step at a time, and I strongly believe that Bethesda Green is leading the way in the right direction.”
Introducing Mariana Pennybacker, Bethesda Green’s Leadership Academy Intern
Mariana is a senior and is interested in majoring in Environmental Science or Political Science. Outside of school, she enjoys spending free time playing tennis and soccer, reading, working out, hiking, and cooking. Mariana initially found out about Bethesda Green, “after my Environmental Science teacher posted about the Leadership Academy on the class forum.” After that, she began pursuing an internship here.
Introducing: Amir Khosrodad, Bethesda Green’s Leadership Academy Intern
Amir will also be joining us this school year. He is a senior and is very passionate about environmental science and green engineering. He hopes to, “experience what it’s like to work in the field, potentially study it in college, and find a career in it!”

Introducing: Lucille Filyaw, Bethesda Green’s Leadership Academy Intern
Lucy is currently a senior.
