Cosmos Roastery founder and CEO Donnie Hill has served more than a decade as an active duty and reserve Air Force officer. Before his military career, Donnie grew up near Charlotte, North Carolina and spent his formative years at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where he earned a degree in German language and Culture. Donnie served most of his active duty career on the West Coast and was first introduced to the specialty coffee industry by spending way too much time at phenomenal cafes in Sacramento and San Francisco. Since moving to the national capital region in July 2017, Donnie has earned a master’s degree from Georgetown University’s School of Foreign Service and spent several years as a counterterrorism analyst for the Department of Defense. He hopes to follow his entrepreneurial dreams and transition to running Cosmos full-time by the end of 2021. Donnie and his wife Sammy currently live in Rockville with their two dogs, Olive and Muffy, and two cats, Hannibal and Hermes.
