Cinnamon Tree Organics brings flavor, heritage and supply chain transparency in the form of single-origin spices. Sourced directly and equitably from small farmers in Sri Lanka and grown using organic farming methods, our spices are freshly harvested every growing season.

Did you know it can take up to five years for spices to reach an American grocery store shelf? The present supply chain increases chances of contamination and encourages the use of artificial colors, flavors, preservatives and pesticides. Generic spices lose their natural flavors and aromas just sitting around in warehouses, and taste bland by the time they reach consumers.
Cinnamon Tree Organics is on a mission to put flavor and value back into America’s spice cabinets while restoring equity and power to small organic farmers who do the hard work. We combine cultural heritage, natural wellness and supply chain transparency in the form of pure spices, harvested fresh every growing season.
Eat well. Feel good!

TEAM BIOS

Nadee Bandaranayake, Founder and Chief Spice Lady, grew up in Sri Lanka eating spicy food and her family moved to Canada in 2007. When she met Sujaai and moved to Maryland, they combined their passion for exploring the world’s cuisines by cooking more at home. The flavors and aromas they met on their travels proved challenging to recreate at home, which launched Nadee’s curiosity and passion about fresh ingredients, organic farming, food systems and international supply chains.

Nadee leads Cinnamon Tree Organic’s marketing and eCommerce operations as well as relationships with customers, media and manufacturers across North America. She left the corporate world at the end of 2019 to launch the duo’s solution to inefficient international food supply chains and poor-quality ingredients in the form of direct trade, single origin, fresh-harvest spices. Nadee holds a Bachelor of Commerce in General Management from the University of Calgary, Alberta, Canada. (LinkedIn)
