Position Overview

Bethesda Green has partnered with the Montgomery County Department of Environmental Protection to deliver The Montgomery County Green Business Certification Program. It is a voluntary recognition program designed to encourage businesses and other organizations to take steps that reduce their ecological footprint.

The Program Manager, Green Business Certification will be responsible for managing and advancing all aspects of this voluntary Green Business Certification program. Earning Green Business Certification indicates that a business is part of an innovative leadership movement to green its operations and help transition to a sustainable future.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Program Management
    • Oversee the daily operations of the Green Business Certification program, including application processing, participant support, and program evaluation.
    • Develop and implement strategies to increase program participation and engagement.
    • Monitor and report on program metrics to ensure goals are met and continuous improvement is achieved.
  2. Participant Support
    • Provide guidance and support to businesses and organizations throughout the certification process.
    • Develop and deliver training materials, workshops, and resources to help participants achieve certification.
    • Maintain regular communication with program participants to address questions and provide updates.
  3. Partnership Collaboration
    • Work closely with partners, including the Montgomery County Department of Environmental Protection and the Green Business Benchmark, to align program objectives and deliverables.
    • Coordinate with partners to promote the program and recruit new participants.
    • Represent Bethesda Green at partner meetings and events.
  4. Outreach and Promotion
    • Develop and implement outreach strategies to raise awareness of the Green Business Certification program.
    • Create promotional materials and manage social media campaigns to attract new participants.
    • Organize and participate in events, webinars, and presentations to showcase the benefits of the program.
  5. Data Management and Reporting
    • Maintain accurate records of program participants, certifications awarded, and program outcomes.
    • Prepare regular reports on program progress and impact for internal and external stakeholders.
    • Use data to identify trends and opportunities for program enhancement.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, sustainability, business administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in program management, sustainability, or a related role.
  • Strong knowledge of sustainability practices and environmental issues, particularly in business settings.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and support diverse audiences.
  • Experience in training, outreach, and promotional activities.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Passion for Bethesda Green’s mission and commitment to promoting sustainable business practices.

This is a hybrid position. Candidates should live in or be willing to relocate within commuting distance to the office in Bethesda, Maryland. The Program Manager will work three days per week from our office, with the option to work from home the rest of the week.

Compensation

The salary for this position will range from $45,000 to $60,000 per year, commensurate with experience. We provide a generous benefits package, including health insurance, paid vacation, and a retirement plan.
