Old Dominion Flower Co. is a streamlined wholesale local flower hub dedicated to developing a sustainable flower economy. Old Dominion makes it easy for florists, event designers, and other floral businesses to purchase sustainably and locally grown flowers from farms throughout the region in one easy-to-use online wholesale marketplace.
Old Dominion is committed to increasing the availability of locally, sustainably, and seasonally grown flowers and foliage while also developing our core principles: minimize the environmental impact caused by importing and transporting flowers great distances, improve worker safety by requiring all ODFC suppliers adhere to sustainable growing methods, promote fair wages and reliable farm income for both farm owners and workers, and provide premium and top quality floral products for our customers.
TEAM BIOS
Megan Wakefield, CoFounder and Director, has been working in the sustainable agriculture space for over eight years, first as an attorney for urban agriculture projects in the City of Baltimore and then as a farmer, gardener, designer, and consultant.
When Old Dominion Flower Co. was first founded, Megan was thrilled at the opportunity to bring all of her various experiences into one project and have the opportunity to develop a company that can promote sustainable agriculture, as well as a sustainable economy around flowers and foliage, right here in the region where she was raised. As Director of Old Dominion Flower Co., Megan manages the weekly wholesale of locally grown flowers, both on the supplier and the buyer sides, as well as development of the company as a whole.
