GaiaXus, LLC is developing environmental monitors specifically designed for citizen scientists, students, and educators. Their IoT-connected devices combine the accuracy of laboratory instruments with the ease of use of consumer electronics. The first product will use next-generation sensor technology to acquire water quality data in a light, robust, and low-cost device.  

The GaiaXus data cloud is designed to give researchers and citizen scientists a space to partner on projects, share insights, and work together on actionable analytics in environmental projects. 

The company is located in Maryland, a State defined by the Chesapeake Bay and its watershed.  Their team members includes avid outdoors people who are deeply committed to safeguarding our environment. 

 

TEAM BIOS

Dietrich Ruehlmann, Ph.D., MBA, is Managing Partner at GaiaXus LLC, an environmental sensor and data company based in Maryland. With 15 years of experience in analytical technology development, Dietrich has launched laboratory instruments, medical devices, and IoT systems in start-up ventures and multinational companies like Becton Dickinson and Medtronic. In GaiaXus, Dietrich now combines his experience in product development and commercialization with his deep passion for the environment.

Dietrich holds a Ph.D. in Cell Physiology from the University of London and an executive MBA from the University of Maryland. Dietrich also is a certified SAFe Product Manager / Product Owner. Before moving to Maryland, Dietrich lived and worked in Germany, the UK, and Canada. (LinkedIn)
