- March 27, 2010: Fields of Green Internship Fair
Among efforts to stimulate the local economy, the inaugural Bethesda Green Fields of Green Internship Fair March 27 proved to be an exciting step in the right direction. With more than 200 young people registered to participate and over two dozen businesses, nonprofits and academic institutions exhibiting, the day-long event hosted at the BCC Regional Services Center successfully connected scores of young people into entry-level internship positions offering experience toward landing green jobs. - March 24, 2010: BG Co-sponsors Green Biz Reception for State Lawmakers
A group of about 30 Bethesda Greeners traveled to Annapolis to co-host a green business reception for state legislators. Many of the entrepreneurs leading our incubator companies participated, including Barry Chenkin of Aquabarrel, Peter Wilson of Glen Eco Vapor Systems, Lynn Miller of 4GreenPs/OrganicMania.com, Mike Kennedy of the Maryland Energy and Sustainability Co-op and Jason Schwartz of BKind Vending. - December 13, 2009: eCycling Event at Whitman High School
- November 15, 2009: Shred and Recycle Event
As part of America Recycles Day, Bethesda Green co-sponsored a shred and recycle event at Walt Whitman High School. We served 421 vehicles, collected approximately 400 pounds of cardboard for recycling, shredded 13,710 pounds of paper for recycling, and filled 3 box trucks with donated clothing and household goods. - Oct. 1-3, 2009: Bethesda Green Grand Opening
Our newly renovated Education Center and Green Business Incubator opened to the public October 1, after a "ribbon-cutting" ceremony in which Honest Tea TEO and Bethesda Green co-founder Seth Goldman cut an invasive species vine in front of the Chevy Chase Bank building on Cordell Ave. Hundreds of people visited Bethesda Green to meet the entrepreneurs in our Green Business Incubator and attend various talks about how to become more eco-friendly at home and at work.
